Cassandra and the woman who had been Laura Talbot struggled fiercely in the living room of the Talbot home.  Cassandra's muffled grunts were interspersed by the ring tones of her phone, which lay out of reach on the ground nearby.

Cassandra fought to turn in Laura's grasp to face her assailant, slowly making ground. The creature that controlled Laura was more focused on getting a hold on Cassandra's mind now, eager for the kill.

"You want to enter my mind, dreamling? Then enter, but do so at your own risk!"  Cassandra's voice rang clear and cold in Laura's mind as a cold light began to burn in Cassandra's eyes.

Laura tried to pull away as she felt the sudden surge of Cassandra's strength and now it was Cassandra's turn to try to hold the retreating Laura in place.

"Look deeply dreamling, see me for who I am and know that I am not the one in danger here!" Cassandra's mental voice reverberated inside Laura's skull as the leader of the superheroine team that bore her name uncloaked her mind and revealed her true power to her would be attacker.

(  It turns out that Cassandra is not just an Italian-American with good PR skills and a flair for looking good in jeans, she has some powers of her own. But while Cassandra may have turned the tables on her attacker, can she do anything to help Alchemica? )
